He had the opportunity to personally witness the capabilities and performance of these helicopters, and it was previously announced that the acquisition would involve six helicopters, representing the largest investment in their development to date and a significant step toward modernizing the system.
"The test flight was truly an impressive experienceโthe sense of safety, power, and precision of these aircraft confirms that the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina are entering a completely new era. I am genuinely thrilled with the performance, stability, and cutting-edge technological solutions these helicopters offer. This is not just an acquisition; it is a historic leap. For the first time in our history, we are acquiring brand-new helicopters. This is the largest investment in the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina so far and a clear indicator of our determination to build strong, modern, and ready armed forces," said Helez.
As Helez noted, the helicopters arrive fully equipped, including state-of-the-art rescue systems.
"Thus, in addition to military capabilities, the ability to protect citizens in crisis and emergency situations is strengthened, so the investment is described as an investment in the security of every person in Bosnia and Herzegovina," said Helez.
The company Leonardo, described as one of the world leaders in this field, employs over 60,000 people, has produced more than 4,500 aircraft, and operates in over 170 countries. Annually, they produce more than 200 helicopters and are considered synonymous with top technology, reliability, and safety.
"As part of the contract, comprehensive training is included, so 12 pilots from Bosnia and Herzegovina will undergo training in Philadelphia. Three will additionally be trained as instructors so they can transfer knowledge within the Armed Forces of BiH system. Furthermore, flight simulators, spare parts, regular maintenance, and accompanying equipment are provided, aiming to guarantee long-term readiness and sustainability of the system," added Helez.
