The Municipal Court in Tuzla has conditionally sentenced Smajo Mandžić (SDA), a representative in the Assembly of the Tuzla Canton, to eight months in prison for assaulting his party colleague, Živinice Mayor Began Muhić.

Mandžić has been found guilty of inflicting serious bodily harm on Muhić, as confirmed for Klix.ba.

This is a first-instance verdict, and the incident for which Mandžić was convicted occurred two years ago at a hospitality establishment.

The conflict at the time arose from intra-party struggles for dominance in the SDA Cantonal Committee.

The indictment against Mandžić was confirmed on January 15, 2025, charging him with assaulting the mayor of Živinice, Began Muhić (SDA), in a restaurant in Tuzla following a verbal altercation.

According to the indictment, he kicked Muhić in the area of the knee of his right leg, causing him to sustain serious bodily injuries.

It is worth recalling that three days ago, the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Muhić to six months in prison for the criminal offense of fraud in office.
