According to the Law on Sports Collectives of Special Importance for the Zenica-Doboj Canton, a total of 3,000,000 KM has been allocated in the budget for this purpose. The municipalities of Tešanj and Doboj Jug have directed part of their funds toward infrastructure sports projects in their areas, which will be implemented in the coming period. The Zenica-Doboj Canton is allocating record funds for sports this year, confirming the Government's commitment to continuously strengthening sports and supporting clubs that represent their city, canton, and country. On this occasion, the Prime Minister of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Nezir Pivić, emphasized that the Government is continuing the trend of increasing investments in sports. "We strive to maintain and improve this trend. We cannot talk about reducing allocations for sports; we can only talk about additional investments. Of course, it is important that these investments are followed by concrete results. We already see certain progress, and this encourages us to continue on this path," said Prime Minister Pivić. He added that the adoption of the Law on Sports Collectives of Special Importance was an important and demanding step. "It was necessary to find the right model, define the criteria, and ensure support in the Zenica-Doboj Canton Assembly. The hardest part of the job is behind us, and it is now much easier to plan stable and long-term support for sports collectives," said Pivić. Pivić particularly highlighted the positive progress in the results of sports collectives, citing the example of the Football Club "Čelik," which, after a difficult period, is back on the right track. The criteria for allocating funds were also discussed by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Mirza Mušija, who emphasized that the funds were allocated to clubs with tradition, quality, and significant youth development programs. "One of the key criteria was that the club has continuity, infrastructure, quality, and a strong youth development program. Such collectives represent the brand of their community and contribute to the development of sports in the canton. It is up to the clubs to justify this trust through results and work in the community," said Mušija. The largest amount of funds, 700,000 KM, was directed to the Football Club "Čelik," one of the most successful sports collectives in Bosnia and Herzegovina, which has left a deep mark on the sports life of the canton and the country. They are currently in first place in the First League of the Federation of BiH with a significant lead over the competition, and it is realistic to expect that they will play in the Premier League of BiH again next year. The President of NK "Čelik," Denis Muhović, emphasized that the support of cantonal institutions is an important foundation for the further development of the club. "This is not just about signing a contract but confirming mutual trust between the institutions of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and NK Čelik. Thanks to this support, we can develop projects, especially in youth development, and prepare the club for a return to the Premier League of BiH," said Muhović. The support of the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government is also significant for other sports collectives. The President of the Basketball Club "Orlovik" Žepče, Kenan Mujkić, emphasized the importance of this support for the stable functioning of the club. "The funds we receive through the Government's Decision on co-financing clubs of special importance are extremely important to us. Orlovik has been a premier league club for the fourth year and, unfortunately, the only representative of our canton in the elite class of BiH basketball. This season, we are candidates for the playoffs and currently share fourth and fifth place in the standings," said Mujkić. The President of the Athletics Club "Zenica," Hamza Alić, also expressed gratitude for the continuous support of sports. "These funds will be very significant for preparing athletes, attending competitions, and acquiring necessary equipment. We are grateful to the Zenica-Doboj Canton Government, led by Prime Minister Pivić and Minister Mušija, for their understanding and continuous support for athletics and sports in general," said Alić.
