The development team of "Hitman" has postponed that version of the game "007 First Light" to a later period this summer. The game is still set to release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms on May 27, which itself is a delay from the previously announced March release date.

"We are excited to watch our players discover the reinterpreted origin story of James Bond. We look forward to providing you with the best possible gaming experience on all platforms," IOI posted on social media X.

Earlier this year, IOI suggested that PC players would need a fairly powerful computer to meet the recommended specifications for "007 First Light." A week later, the publisher updated the specifications with more modest requirements and apologized after careful observers noticed inconsistencies in the original version. IOI stated that the "error occurred due to a misunderstanding in internal communication, which led to sharing an older version of the specifications." Meanwhile, Sony has announced a limited edition "007 First Light" DualSense controller.

Developers and publishers have faced difficulties porting certain games to the Switch 2, according to Kotaku. Gearbox Entertainment delayed and eventually "shelved" the version of "Borderlands 4" for that system. The long-awaited port of "Elden Ring" to the Switch 2 has been postponed to later this year after the game experienced serious performance issues during a public demonstration at Gamescom 2025. Reports suggest the game is now in better shape on the Switch 2, but there is still no fixed release date for that version.
