Van Aert surpassed the best rider of today, Slovenian Tadej Pogaฤar, in the final sprint at Roubaix, marking the second consecutive year Pogaฤar has finished second in this race. The two of them broke away alone at the front of the race about 55 kilometers from the finish when even Dane Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) could no longer keep up with their pace. However, Van Aert had an answer for all those attacks and triumphed easily in the final sprint. Incidentally, the race was also marked by mechanical issues for the main favorites, with Pogaฤar having to change his bike due to a flat tire 120 kilometers from the finish, losing nearly a minute. This is the biggest success of Van Aert's career, although he has previously won one monument (Milan-Sanremo), along with 10 stage victories at the Tour de France, three at the Vuelta a Espaรฑa, and one at the Giro d'Italia.
