Crossword puzzles, or the game of crossed words, have held a steady place in the final sections of newspaper editions since the beginning of the last century—alongside daily political news, crime reports, market trends, and international relations, page after page features content from the cultural sphere and examples of puzzles.
The curatorial concept of the exhibition "Crossword" adopts the logical structure of the crossword puzzle game but discards the idea of a solution.
Instead of a single fixed meeting point, the exhibition offers a series of "intersections" of artistic poetics and media. Lamija Čehajić and Ana Evtić present video installations. Una Filipović presents a video game as a participatory artwork, Adrienn Újházi a triptych of objects, Haris Sahačić a newly produced sound installation, while Haris Hadžić will invite the audience to participate in a participatory VR mixed reality performance.
With the exhibition "Crossword," Manifesto Gallery launches its annual exhibition program titled "TECHNO TECHNO TECHNO," through which it aims to present various approaches to technique and technology and explore the spaces of inter-, trans-, and post-disciplinary practices in contemporary art.
The exhibition will be on display until April 19, and all interested visitors can view it at Despićeva 3 during the gallery's regular working hours—from Tuesday to Saturday between 12 PM and 8 PM, and on Sunday from 12 PM to 2 PM.
