Sánchez has positioned himself as one of the most vocal Western leaders criticizing what he calls an illegal and reckless war, closing Spanish airspace to U.S. aircraft involved in strikes and barring them from using jointly managed military bases in southern Spain. Vox, a movement close to U.S. President Donald Trump’s MAGA, has sharply criticized Sánchez’s stance. A survey by the state agency CIS last month showed 85 percent of respondents reject the war. A new poll published on Monday by Sigma Dos for the newspaper El Mundo showed support for Sánchez’s Socialists rising to 27.7 percent from 26.4 percent last month, narrowing the lead of the conservative People’s Party (PP). Another poll, conducted by 40dB for El País, puts them at 28.6 percent, compared with 27.7 percent previously. Meanwhile, Vox fell to 17.1 percent in April from 18.3 percent according to Sigma Dos, and by 0.1 percentage point to 18.7 percent in the 40dB poll. The People’s Party (PP) led in both polls, with 32.5 percent and 31.1 percent support, rising by less than one percentage point in both cases. The party accuses Sánchez of undermining transatlantic relations and has refrained from publicly condemning Trump and Israel, although its leader has also expressed anti-war views. A common trend is voters shifting from far-end political options toward the two main parties. The PP appears to be stemming the flow of votes to Vox, while the Socialists are attracting former voters of their far-left coalition partner Sumar, polls show. A fragmented electorate still means coalitions are needed to form a government, and both polls point to a right-wing majority if elections were held now. The next general election is scheduled for August 2027.

In Spain, Pedro Sanchez's popularity has risen, halting the growth of radical right-wingers.
The ruling Spanish Socialist Party is seeing an increase in voter support due to Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez's firm opposition to the U.S.-Israeli war against Iran, while the far-right Vox, which supports the offensive, is experiencing a decline, two surveys have shown.
