This was the eighth sold-out performance of the opera "Tvrtko, King of Bosnia," including its premiere. The opera "Tvrtko, King of Bosnia" is based on the novel "Chronicle of King Tvrtko" by writer Jasmin Imamović, with the libretto signed by Muamer Kodrić.
The performance features soloists and the choir of the Sarajevo National Theatre Opera, the Sarajevo National Theatre Ballet, and the Sarajevo Philharmonic.
"The opera 'Tvrtko, King of Bosnia' was created at the intersection and within the framework of various extremes—as an endeavor for our musical artistic practice to finally achieve what has long been accomplished in other environments, but at the same time, for such an achievement not to be essentially delayed and anachronistic. In a compositional sense, as the author, I faced a large number of challenges—a very large number of main and episodic roles that correspond with each other, almost throughout the entire duration of the work, the musical 'depiction' of the Middle Ages where the absence of the classical major-minor tonal relationship often had to be present, frequent use of modes and extended tonality with frequent changes of the tonal center as the basis of thematic expression, along with the extensive use of distant harmonies as elements that enhance and 'colorize' the dramatic action on stage," stated composer Ammar Jažić.
The title role of Tvrtko was performed by NPS Opera soloist Ivan Šarić. Grubača, Tvrtko's unmarried wife, was portrayed by Amila Ravkić; in the role of Princess Jelena, Tvrtko's mother, we heard Katarina Kikić Marić; while Doroteja, the Bosnian queen, was portrayed by Hana Salihović.
Amir Saračević played the role of Vuk, Tvrtko's brother; Ileš Bečei the character of Vuk Dabišić, a nobleman and conspirator against Tvrtko. Opera soloist Erol Ramadanović portrayed the character of Hotjan, Tvrtko's advisor. Did Bosnian, the head of the Bosnian Church, is Leonardo Šarić; Vlatko Hranić, a Bosnian knight and nobleman, Denis Isaković.
Jasmin Bašić portrayed the character of Hrabren, a guard; Elizabeta, the Hungarian queen, Dajana Šegvić; and the Venetian envoy Josip Katavić. The Dalmatian envoy is Siniša Markanović; Nicolo, Ermin Ašćerić; Abdulaziz, Nedim Bašić. Lazar's messenger was played by Edin Daši, the Hungarian messenger by Dejan Kajević, and Vladislav Dabišić, brother of Vuk Dabišić, by Haris Bidžan.
