After the first quarterfinal match of the EHF European Cup in Ljubuški ended with a 36:31 victory for Izviđač, in Sunday's rematch in the Czech Republic, the Karvina team led 34:29 after 60 minutes of play, leading to a penalty shootout where the Scouts were more successful.
Thus, Izviđač has secured a spot in the semifinals of the EHF European Cup for the second consecutive year, having been defeated by the Greek team AEK last season. This time, they will face the Hungarian team Tatabanya on the other side of the court.
"We will meet the third-placed team of the Hungarian championship. They are right behind Pick Szeged and Veszprem in the standings, which speaks volumes about their quality. They are a truly strong and experienced team with a large number of international players and national team members. We have a tough task ahead," emphasized Džolić.
He pointed out that Izviđač deservedly advanced to the semifinals and expressed hope that in their second consecutive attempt, they would succeed in reaching the grand final.
The first match will be played on April 25/26 in Ljubuški, with the rematch on May 2/3 in Tatabanya.
"The first match is in Ljubuški, which could be an advantage if we fill the hall and create pressure. Tatabanya is the favorite, but we certainly won't give up. It will be a great motivation to try to achieve a favorable result in the first match and ultimately pull off a miracle," concluded Džolić.
