The tragedy occurred on Sunday as they were returning from an away match, and the news was confirmed by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). The incident happened on the Goaso-Bibiani road while the team was heading home from a league match against Samartex in Samreboi, in the southern part of the country. The club released details of the attack on Monday. "Our club bus was attacked by a group of armed robbers who blocked the road to obstruct our path. Masked assailants with pistols and rifles began shooting at the bus as the driver attempted to reverse. Players and staff fled to hide in nearby bushes," the statement read. The Ghana Football Association later confirmed that 20-year-old Frimpong had passed away. "With deep shock and immense sorrow, we have received the tragic news of the death of Dominic Frimpong. This tragic event is not only a huge loss for Berekum Chelsea but also for Ghanaian football as a whole. Dominic was a promising young talent whose dedication and passion for the game embodied the spirit of our league," the Association stated.
