An example of a conservative approach in the increasingly popular process of restoration and modification comes from the small British company Tolman, which for one of its latest projects chose the legendary Honda Integra Type Rโa lightweight coupe that once held the longest-standing lap record at the Nรผrburgring Nordschleife in the front-wheel-drive production car category. The first step involves restoring the Integraโs fully stripped-down body, addressing any corrosion and previous damage. All body panels that cannot be adequately repaired are replaced with new, identical handcrafted panels, fully adhering to the philosophy of preserving the original appearance. After 180 hours of work, the thoroughly restored body undergoes an anti-corrosion treatment, followed by painting according to modern standards. In this specific case, the owner of the old/new Integra opted for a dark green shade (Sorrento Green). Refreshed with original parts, under the front hood remains the 1.8-liter naturally aspirated VTEC B18C four-cylinder engine, producing the standard 190 hp at 8,000 rpm and 178 Nm of peak torque at 7,300 rpm. This ensures the factory figures of 234 km/h top speed and a 0โ100 km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds. An invisible change in the cabin, with restored materials indistinguishable from the original, involves the installation of slightly more sound insulation, making the Integra more pleasant for daily use. The modification aspect of the story includes Michelin tires sized 195/55 on the original white 15-inch wheels, more capable brakes, and new shock absorbers that will help the Integra better demonstrate its celebrated handling. From the initial sanding of the bare body to the completion of the work at Tolman, about 740 hours of labor are spent. The restored and discreetly modified Integra Type R covers just over 160 test kilometers before being delivered to the customer. At the company, which since 2007 has insisted on restomod projects without compromising the original appearance, this year marks a new beginning with three more Integras set to undergo the same process. Thumbs up!

Tolman has shown that an excellent restomod does not have to compromise the original appearance.
In a small British company Tolman, they chose the legendary Honda Integra Type R for a restomod project, and buyers of all four planned examples will ultimately receive technically enhanced cars that are indistinguishable from the original both externally and internally.
