After a dramatic victory against Italy (4:1 on penalties), the celebration continued into the early morning hours, and in the company of his greatest football idol, Edin Džeko.
According to Tabaković, the celebration started on the field, continued in the streets of Sarajevo in front of tens of thousands of fans, and only ended around 9:00 AM at the hotel.
"Edin even went live on Instagram around 7 in the morning. It was a night I will never forget," stated the striker.
Tabaković and Džeko were key figures in the playoffs. Against Wales, Džeko scored an important equalizing goal (1:1), while against Italy, Tabaković scored and took us into extra time, later being a reliable penalty taker.
Alongside them, Ermedin Demirović also made a significant contribution, so coach Sergej Barbarez now has a serious attacking option for the World Cup.
In the group stage, Bosnia and Herzegovina will face Canada, Qatar, and Switzerland, and the Gladbach striker did not hide his admiration for his captain.
"A monument should be erected for Edin in Bosnia! He is our leader in every sense. Against Wales, he asked to be substituted himself because he felt he could no longer give his maximum—such things show what kind of man and player he is."
Recall that Dijamant scored a goal in the 86th minute to equalize against Wales, and in the first minute of extra time, he left the game, making way for Amir Hadžiahmetović.
After the match, the national team celebrated with their families on the field, then headed to Sarajevo, where, according to estimates, they were greeted by over 100,000 fans.
"After the match, we first brought our families onto the field. My father, my uncle, my little cousin, my wife, and one of my best friends were there, and they were incredibly proud. Then we interrupted our coach Sergej Barbarez's press conference to celebrate and returned to have fun with the fans. Around 2:30 AM, we said, 'Let's go to Sarajevo.' Standing on the balcony and hearing people chant our names—it's indescribable. The emotions were immense," recalled Tabaković.
The celebration then continued at the hotel, and fatigue only set in just before morning.
"When I lay down around 9 AM, I thought there was no point in even sleeping."
In Germany, the Bosnian strikers are separated by just over 50 kilometers. Džeko lives in Gelsenkirchen, Tabaković in Düsseldorf.
"We communicate very regularly because we congratulate each other on every goal," reveals Tabaković, continuing further.
"Recently, I went out for dinner with him and Nikola Katić. I even attended the Schalke stadium for the 2:2 draw against Hannover."
When Džeko was also offered to Gladbach in the winter, Tabaković did not influence the deal, but he would welcome Dijamant with open arms.
"Of course, I would welcome him with open arms."
The attacking trio of Džeko, Tabaković, and Demirović has already shown potential in the final stages of the match against Italy, and Tabaković emphasizes that the goal for the World Cup is to advance from the group.
"We immediately felt the advantage. We have strength and quality. We are going to the World Cup with the goal of advancing from the group," stated Tabaković.
It should be added that Tabaković is playing this season as a loaned player for Gladbach from Hoffenheim, scoring 13 goals in 31 appearances with three assists.
In total, he has scored four goals in ten matches for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.
