The joy in Bosnia and Herzegovina after qualifying for the World Cup is indescribable. In a truly unforgettable match, the Bosnian footballers managed to defeat Italy, a four-time world champion, after a dramatic penalty shootout.

While this outcome plunged Italians into deep sorrow, absolute euphoria took over the streets of Sarajevo. This historic playoff match was also closely watched by Haris Seferović.

"I was very happy," the 34-year-old striker told the Swiss portal CH Media.

"This victory is good for the entire society. Not all wounds from the Balkan war have healed yet, so it's really nice to see the whole country once again have a real reason for a big celebration."

The former Swiss national team player has Bosnian roots, which is why he awaits the direct duel between these two selections at the world's biggest football showcase with special emotions. He is aware of the weight and emotional charge that this encounter carries.

Seferović, whose parents are from Sanski Most, proudly emphasizes his origins and has the contours of Bosnia and Herzegovina with lilies tattooed on his elbow. He was born in the Swiss city of Sursee.

"It will be a very, very specific match," explains Seferović.

"I definitely don't want to miss it. I will try to get tickets so I can watch this match live from the stands," said the experienced striker.

When asked who his heart will beat for in this duel, the experienced striker with 95 appearances for the Swiss national team remained restrained, diplomatically stating: "May the better team win."

Incidentally, Seferović has been playing in the United Arab Emirates for two seasons. In the jersey of his current club, United FC, this 34-year-old has made five appearances in the current season but is still waiting for his first goal.
