As announced, 12.4 kilometers of track have been connected on the line to Hrasnica. Additionally, a total of 1,500 tons of rails have been installed, joined by 1,503 welds. "On the tram line route today, April 10, 2026, the final weld was completed in Hrasnica. After work is finished on the turnaround loop at Ilidža and the rails are laid, the Ilidža loop will be connected to the route. From summer, trams will run to Hrasnica. For the first time in 60 years of talk and false promises, the tram line to Hrasnica is becoming a reality," it was stated. We recall that the construction of the Ilidža–Hrasnica tram line, 6.5 kilometers long in each direction, began in March 2024. Once construction is completed, Hrasnica, Sokolović Kolonija, and Butmir will be connected to the center of Sarajevo by a form of public transport. This is one of the largest post-war public investments in the Sarajevo Canton—worth over 50 million BAM, with funds secured through a loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
