The mobile phones were handed over by the Minister of Agriculture, Kemal Hrnjiฤ‡ (NiP), together with representatives of the ProBio BiH project. The received mobile phones will be allocated to field officers working in plant production, with the aim of improving control and recording of production activities.

These phones, with a total value of 25,000 BAM, are primarily intended for photographing plots with geolocation tagging, which will enable, according to the authorities, more precise and efficient determination of the actual state of plant production.

Minister Hrnjiฤ‡ thanked the representative of the ProBio BiH project, Suzana Madลพariฤ‡. He reminded of the importance of investing in modern technologies that contribute to strengthening institutional capacities and improving transparency in the agricultural sector.

"By introducing modern technological solutions, this time for officials at the cantonal and entity levels, we further strengthen the system of control and monitoring of agricultural production. Such projects contribute to more efficient field work, but also to greater trust in the processes of allocating incentives and managing resources," Hrnjiฤ‡ stated.

Representatives of cantonal ministries noted the importance of applying existing regulations on plot recording and geolocation tagging. They assure that this practice has already resulted in a reduction of reported areas that previously, due to their size, could not be adequately controlled.

The project "Promoting local biodiversity through innovative nature-based actions in the agricultural-food sector of Bosnia and Herzegovina (ProBio BiH)" is funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS).

It is implemented by the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies - Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Bari (CIHEAM Bari).

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Water Management and Forestry announced that they will continue with the modernization of the sector and strengthening of institutional capacities, with the support of international partners.
