Jovanic added that this was an exceptionally successful operation by Serbian security services.
"For months, we have been pointing out to the Supreme Commander, President Aleksandar Vučić, as well as the state leadership, that something like what happened today could occur. To be honest, we encountered skepticism, disapproval, and disagreement. This was also the case when we had to present relevant indicators that the gas infrastructure could be threatened," Jovanic stated, as reported by RTS.
He also spoke about what was found.
"Today we found: specially packaged, hermetically sealed explosives, specially prepared and packaged detonator caps for transport, as well as a detonating cord and suitable tools and equipment for preparing this explosive to carry out the sabotage. I will reveal a detail from the investigation: according to the markings on the explosive, it is evident that it was produced in the USA," said the director of the VBA.
We remind you that Vučić announced this morning that army and police units, while searching the area in the municipality of Kanjiža, found explosives of destructive power, which are linked to the threat to critical gas infrastructure. Due to this incident, Vučić also spoke with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban. The explosives were found near the gas pipeline through which natural gas is transported to Hungary.
