In a notice published on its website, Samsung confirmed that the Messages app will be discontinued in July 2026. The company is urging users to switch to Google Messages as their default messaging application. Samsung advises users to check the exact date of the app's discontinuation and also noted that phones with Android 11 and older versions will not be affected by the service termination, as support for the Samsung Messages app will continue in these cases. The Samsung Galaxy S25 series, along with the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, and newer devices, will be shipped with Google Messages as the default messaging app. In the U.S., Samsung began gradually phasing out its Messages app starting with the Galaxy S22 lineup.
