In a Telegram post, the IRGC condemned the "savage attack in Beirut" as Israel continued its strikes on Lebanon today despite a ceasefire agreement announced last night. Israeli officials and Trump stated that Lebanon is not covered by the current ceasefire between Iran, the U.S., and Israel, contradicting claims by Pakistani mediators.
"We sternly warn the United States, which has breached its obligations and is a partner of this brutal regime, that if aggression against Lebanon is not halted immediately, we will fulfill our duty and deliver a response that will bring regret to the malicious aggressors in the region," the post stated.
Some European and world leaders welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and the U.S., calling for a "swift and lasting end to the war" in the coming days.
In a joint statement released earlier today, the leaders of Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, the Netherlands, and Canada, along with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antรณnio Costa, urged rapid progress toward a "substantively negotiated solution," crucial for protecting Iran's civilian population and ensuring regional security.
"We call on all parties to implement the ceasefire, including in Lebanon," the statement noted, adding that relevant governments will contribute to ensuring freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, which Tehran has effectively blocked since the start of the U.S.-Israeli attack on Iran.
The Israeli military carried out airstrikes on 100 locations across Lebanon in just ten minutes today. Al Jazeera reported that the destruction in Beirut is terrifying, particularly as the attacks were executed without warning.
Lebanonโs Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine said hundreds of people have been killed and injured.
The attacks included some of the most extensive Israeli strikes in the heart of Beirut in recent decades. Airstrikes hit at least three areas in the administrative part of Beirut, including a strike near the central coastal promenade, according to an analysis of footage conducted by CNN.
