Bustamante shared the news on her Instagram yesterday, also highlighting that Journey is autistic and nonverbal. In the post, Bustamante wrote that she had long kept this part of her life private. "Not because I was ashamed, nor because I don’t love her loudly, but because some of Journey’s worlds are sacred. My daughter Journey is autistic, nonverbal, and has sensory processing challenges. She was born with PHACE syndrome, a very rare congenital condition. She experiences the world differently," Bustamante wrote. "There have been moments of fear, learning, and situations where I had to be stronger than I ever imagined," she added. Bustamante chose to publicly speak about her daughter’s diagnosis on World Autism Day to raise awareness and emphasize the importance of visibility for the community. Fabolous also commented on the post, calling his daughter a "Special Journey." This statement refers to the organization "A Special Journey," founded by Bustamante, which provides support for children with autism and complex diagnoses. PHACE syndrome can affect a child’s brain, heart, arteries, and eyes. One of the signs of the syndrome are hemangiomas, benign skin growths made of blood vessels, most commonly on a child’s face and neck. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the condition can be life-threatening if symptoms are severe but can be managed with treatment. Emily Bustamante and Fabolous welcomed their daughter Journey on October 10, 2020. The couple also shares sons Jonas (10) and Johan (17), while Bustamante is also the mother of daughter Taina Williams (28) from a previous relationship.
