Based on the currently processed votes, the opposition party TISZA has achieved an unexpected and significant initial result. Although these are only the first preliminary results, the data shows that the TISZA party is currently leading with a total of 91 mandates. Of that number, 39 mandates come from party lists, while as many as 52 were won in individual electoral districts. The ruling coalition FIDESZ โ€“ KDNP, led by Viktor Orban, currently occupies second place with a total of 76 mandates (45 from the list and 31 individual). Third is the right-wing movement Mi Hazรกnk with nine mandates won. Other parties, such as DK (0.74%) and MKKP (0.57%), are currently far below the electoral threshold and have no mandates won. Although a very small percentage of votes have been processed, this data indicates that Orban's FIDESZ could face serious difficulties in retaining an absolute majority in the 199-seat parliament. The key battle is being fought in individual electoral districts, where the opposition TISZA is currently showing exceptional strength. "These are only the first data and the situation could change significantly as votes from larger cities and rural areas, which are traditionally supportive of the government, come in," analysts note.
