The brilliant striker of the Dragons and Stuttgart, accompanied by his wife Sandra and daughter Leana, departed from Sarajevo via private jet to Germany, where he now awaits the fulfillment of a very specific and expensive promise.
At the beginning of March, ahead of the playoffs, Demirović pledged that if Bosnia and Herzegovina qualified for the World Cup, he would throw an unprecedented celebration in Germany and treat the entire stadium. He stated that if they succeeded, he would treat all of Stuttgart and buy drinks for every fan, emphasizing that it would be completely crazy. This video was even shared on social media by the national team coach, Sergej Barbarez.
Fate willed that the Dragons, on the wings of fantastic support in Zenica, would defeat Italy, and after the match, Demirović confirmed that he would not back down from what he said. To the local media, he briefly stated that a round was on him, that he stands by his word, and that he would do it with pleasure, even though it would be quite expensive.
The capacity of the stadium in Stuttgart (MHPArena) is approximately 60,000 seats. Considering that the average price of beer at the stadium is 5 euros, simple math shows that Demirović's celebratory "round for the entire stadium" will cost an incredible 300,000 euros.
Stuttgart's next home match is already tomorrow when they will host Borussia Dortmund at their ground, so it remains to be seen whether Demirović will fulfill his promise immediately tomorrow.
As a reminder, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Italy in the playoff final after a better penalty shootout, securing a visa for the World Cup to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. By the draw's will, the Dragons have been placed in a very favorable group where they will face Canada as one of the tournament hosts, Switzerland, and Qatar.
