Grapes, a favorite fruit for many, are packed with nutrients, antioxidants, and fiber that can improve heart health, eye health, and cognitive function. However, they don't always retain their freshness long after we bring them home.

Although grapes are juicy when fresh, they can quickly develop an unpleasant taste if kept out for too long. Fortunately, there is a way to ensure your grapes stay fresh much longer. Specifically, it's important to carefully examine their stems.

If the stems are brown, it's a sign you shouldn't buy the grapes. If the stems are green, it means the fruit is fresh.

Grapes should be stored in the refrigerator, ideally in the bottom drawer, due to the cold and constant temperature. It's advisable to place a paper towel inside to absorb excess moisture.

Avoid putting grapes in an airtight container unless you're sure they are completely dry, and keep them away from foods like onions because they can absorb their odor.
