Suad Rožajac is accused of the serious criminal offense against human health and the criminal offense of negligent treatment, while Nina Jovanović and Jasmina Halimić are accused of the criminal offense of abuse of position or authority.

The case of the girl Džena from Kaknja shocked the public in November 2021, and protests were organized several times where parents directed demands to the authorities, the court, and the prosecution.

Over the past three weeks, the closing arguments of the KS Prosecutor's Office and the defense of the accused have been presented in this case.

Prosecutor Maja Pašić stated during the closing arguments that the Prosecutor's Office proved that the accused committed the criminal offenses they are charged with in the indictment. Pašić noted that from the testimonies of witnesses and experts, it was concluded that the death resulted from damage to vital centers.

The Prosecutor's Office pointed out that witness testimony indicates that no traces of electrodes were found on the girl's body and that the child was unconscious. They also cited statements from doctors who said they determined a "state of brain silence," meaning that brain cells were not functioning.

On the other hand, the accused maintain their innocence and have requested acquittals. The lawyer for the first accused, Suad Rožajac, Alen Nakić, said at the very beginning of the closing arguments that the rights to a fair trial have not been ensured in this proceeding.

During the closing arguments, Nakić emphasized that he hopes "the court's decision will be the voice of the law, not the pressure of the public and the images created by the media and certain officials."

The lawyer for the second accused, Nina Jovanović, Damir Koldžo, stated at the beginning of the closing arguments that this case took place in an intense media environment and that Dr. Jovanović did not violate professional rules.

The first-instance verdict will be pronounced at 10 a.m.
