An article titled "Trump's Ace in the Hole if Iran Doesn't Comply: Naval Blockade," from the pro-Trump media outlet Just the News, states that such a blockade would strangle Iran's economy and pressure its alliesโChina and Indiaโwho rely on Iranian oil exports.
The text notes that such a move by Trump would be a "reprise of his successful blockade strategy," after a previous naval blockade "brought the Venezuelan economy to its knees" ahead of the U.S. capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro in January.
Recall that the U.S. and Iran failed to reach an agreement in Islamabad, and U.S. Vice President JD Vance left Pakistan after 21 hours of negotiations.
"I think that's bad news for Iran much more than it's bad news for the United States. So we're returning to the United States without having reached an agreement," Vance said upon departure.
On the other hand, Iranians claim that this is worse news for the U.S. and that they are "in no hurry" to reach an agreement.
