According to the Dunwoody Police, officers responded to a report of a single-vehicle accident late Tuesday evening on Meadow Lane near Ridgeview Road. Photos show it was a red Cayenne Coupe in the S package.
The front half of the SUV ended up several meters away from the rear, with only wiring and some structural pieces still connecting the two sections. The passenger seat was torn from its mounting points and ended up on the road. Meanwhile, the rear portion of the vehicle, including the trunk and rear seats, was separated behind the driver's compartment.
Dunwoody Police stated that the driver's seat was "the only part of the cabin that remained intact," and despite the force of the impact, the driver sustained only minor injuries. The car appears to have carbon-ceramic brakes and a sport exhaust system, suggesting this was one of the more expensive variants in the lineup.
Investigators say speed is considered a primary factor in the accident, although police have not specified how fast the SUV was traveling before the driver lost control. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
If there's one thing to take away from this crash, it's that modern engineering can be stunningly effective. The Cayenne may be destroyed, but the survival cell around the driver did exactly what it was designed to do.
