NASA astronaut Reid Wiseman released a video clip showing the moment when, after landing on Earth, medical and other personnel opened the door of the Orion capsule that had flown around the Moon. After splashing down in the ocean, the astronauts remained inside the capsule, and at that moment, they were approached by members of the medical team and divers who are also responsible for the first contact with the astronauts after landing. They quickly opened the hatch, followed by the excitement of both the astronauts and the divers. The divers, who are also medical personnel, quickly checked the astronauts' general condition, and once assured everything was fine, they told them they could exit. "Welcome home," the divers said to them. Often working in expeditionary warfare communities, the Navy medical personnel who dived are certified divers and undergo specialized training, making them experts in decompression sickness and other underwater medical issues. Their mission is to care for diving-qualified service members and ensure they are safe to conduct diving operations. "As a proud member of the undersea medical community, I am especially honored to participate in this mission. It is the honor of my life to stand here today, ready to provide the absolute best possible care to the Artemis II crew," one of the divers stated.
