It all started towards the end of the first half, with Cibalija leading 1:0, when the home team players appealed for a penalty. One Dubrava player remained lying on the pitch, after which the visitors from Vinkovci kicked the ball out of play in the spirit of fair play. However, referee Titliฤ did not award a foul.
The game continued, but instead of returning the ball to the opponent, Ante Matiฤ took advantage of the situation and sent it into the empty net for the equalizer. This move provoked heated reactions from the Cibalija players, leading to a brief period of complete chaos on the pitch.
After the passions subsided, a move followed that surprised everyone present. Matiฤ took the ball at the center circle, went through the pitch unchallenged, and deliberately put it into his own net, essentially gifting a goal to Cibalija.
Thus, the halftime break was reached with a score of 2:1 for the visitors, in one of the most unusual scenarios seen on Croatian pitches.
