It all started when she was at a theater performance with her 19-year-old daughter, who noticed that her mother couldn't properly form a smile. Soon, Kerry herself realized her face was stiffening as she went to the restroom. Kerry was then overcome with panic, and her daughter asked what was happening to her face, after which Kerry discreetly left the hall, returned to the hotel, and sought medical help. Since waiting for a doctor would have taken hours, she decided to take a taxi to St Thomas Hospital. At the hospital, her condition was immediately taken seriously and treated as a possible stroke, so she was urgently transferred to King’s College Hospital. During the examination, the symptoms worsened—her face became increasingly stiff, and her speech became difficult. "Just an hour ago, I was watching my daughter on stage, and now I'm being treated for a stroke. It's unbelievable how quickly everything can change," she recounted. She described how shocking the entire situation was and how she became frightened, sending a message to her children fearing she might never be able to speak to them again. "It hit me hard. I wrote to everyone that I love them. I have never been so terrified in my life," she added.
