As with other issues, Magyar announced that there will be a change, but it will not be radical.
"Regarding the relationship between Israel and Hungary, I can say that there is obviously a special connection. Many of our Hungarian compatriots live in Israel, and numerous Israeli citizens visit Hungary. In Hungary, there is a very strong Jewish community, one of the largest in Europe, and fortunately, it lives in peace and security. Hungary has so far pursued, and will continue to pursue, a policy of zero tolerance towards all forms of antisemitism. We will not engage in practices like those carried out by the Orbรกn government in various propaganda publications," said Magyar.
The future leader of Hungary also commented on the issue of potential future European Union decisions regarding Israel, which have been blocked by Orbรกn so far.
"Israel is an important economic partner, and we will continue to cooperate with them, aiming to build a pragmatic relationship. Although every issue and every decision requires consideration, I cannot guarantee whether Hungary will continue to block European Union decisions concerning Israel. I do not want to draw premature conclusions on this matter. We will assess European Union decisions as they come and consider what is in our best interest," he said.
By the end of the conference, he also stated that he would return Hungary to the framework of the Rome Statute, which established the International Criminal Court, and from which Orbรกn withdrew after the indictment against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
