The Cantonal Court in Bihać has sentenced Muharem Keškić from Bihać to five years in prison for attempting to kill H.Š. in the courtyard of the Semi-Open Penitentiary Institution "Luka" in Bihać, where both were serving prison sentences.

The indictment by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office of the Una-Sana Canton charged Keškić with, on July 30, 2023, while serving a prison sentence in the courtyard of the Semi-Open Penitentiary Institution "Luka," intentionally physically assaulting the victim H.Š. with the intent to injure and kill him using a suitable object.

According to the description of the act, on that day, the defendant approached inmate H.Š. from behind, who was reading a book at the time, leaning against the platform of the prison cafeteria, and without provocation, struck him with an improvised metal shovel, causing minor physical injuries.

The injuries were described as a contusion-laceration wound on the left temple region and a hematoma on the back.

This is a non-final verdict, and the parties have the right to appeal to the Supreme Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina within 15 days of receiving the verdict. This publication does not prejudge the outcome of the criminal proceedings nor violate the principle of presumption of innocence, according to which everyone is considered innocent until their guilt is established by a final court verdict.
