In an interview with CBS Sports Golazo, Pato spoke in detail about his time at Milan, working under Ancelotti, and his life after retirement. The Brazilian joined Milan as a teenager in 2007, won the Golden Boy award in 2009, and then the Scudetto in the 2010/2011 season, finishing as the club's top scorer. Joining such a prestigious club at such a young age was not always an easy transition. "When I arrived at Milan, I entered the locker room alone. I saw photos and names all over the locker room. I said 'wow.' In front of me, I have Kakรก, Seedorf, and Pirlo is here too. Gattuso is here, Maldini. Ronaldo as well. I have to play calmly. It was incredible," stated Pato. He admitted that Ancelotti helped him the most to settle in at Milan and claims they still enjoy a close relationship, adding that Ancelotti even named his dog Pato. "He gave me confidence. His dog's name is Pato, we were so close. I feel that Ancelotti is more than a coach, he is a friend, he is a father. When I was at Milan, I was 17 years old. So, when I arrived there, he came to the gate of Milanello, took me by the hand, and said 'okay, come inside, I want to introduce you to the other players.' So, he called each player and said 'guys, this is Pato,' they said 'hello Pato, good luck and we are here for you.' That's why I think Ancelotti is more than a coach, he is a gentleman," said the Brazilian. Pato has no doubts about where Ancelotti ranks among the greatest head coaches of all time. "For me, he is the best coach ever," Pato was clear.
