As confirmed to Klix.ba, a session of the Collegium of the House of Representatives of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled for April 7, where it will be proposed that this be the only agenda item of an extraordinary session to be held on April 8.
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina previously submitted to parliamentary procedure a Draft Law on Amendments to the Law on the Southern Interconnection. It has also been proposed that voting be conducted under urgent procedure.
The FBiH Government earlier stated that this is one of the most important infrastructure and energy projects for the Federation of BiH and Bosnia and Herzegovina, directly impacting gas supply security, the stability of the energy system, and overall economic development.
"The Southern Interconnection project is part of a broader strategic initiative for energy diversification in Bosnia and Herzegovina, launched with strong support from international partners, primarily the United States. In this context, discussions were held even earlier with political leaders in the Federation of BiH about the need to build a new gas pipeline that would reduce dependence on a single supply source and strengthen the country's energy security," stated the FBiH Government.
The amendments to the law also introduce an American investor, the company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy d.o.o., which is registered in Sarajevo and is wholly owned by the American company AAFS Infrastructure and Energy LLC.
Federal Minister of Energy, Mining, and Industry Vedran Lakiฤ will hold a press conference today in the premises of the FBiH Government on the topic of the Southern Interconnection.
