Pakistan's Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has called on Iran and the United States to fulfill their commitment to maintaining a ceasefire after the countries concluded historic, direct talks without reaching an agreement. "It is essential that the parties continue to honor their obligation to the ceasefire," Dar said in remarks following the talks, according to a statement released by his office. He added that Pakistan will continue to play a mediating role and attempt to facilitate dialogue between Iran and the U.S. in the coming days. Meanwhile, in Pakistan's capital on Saturday, American and Iranian delegations met for the first time since the start of the war. They talked for as long as 21 hours but failed to reach an agreement. According to the Iranian delegation, there were two or three contentious points and excessive demands from the Americans, while the U.S. delegation focused on a long-term suspension of nuclear weapons development.
