Professional decorators have noted that whether it's walls or kitchen elements, choosing the right color is crucial to avoid mistakes or being forced to repaint the kitchen. Additionally, many trends from the '80s and '90s have made a comeback, but according to interior designer Amy Swicer, neon colors in the kitchen should not be one of the choices, writes Real Simple. "There are no strict rules about kitchen colors, but some people prefer to avoid certain colors for practical reasons or personal preferences. I would never incorporate bright neon colors in the kitchen. That's because it's nearly impossible to match neon shades with the rest of the kitchen. It would be challenging to blend them with other elements in the space. You might consider a neon shade for seat cushions, but when it comes to walls or kitchen cabinets, it's advised to avoid these colors," she said. Furthermore, Swicer emphasizes that the kitchen is not the place for dark colors. Another issue with dark colors, according to designers, is that they show scratches and imperfections more noticeably than lighter colors. If you want to incorporate dark colors in a small kitchen, keep them away from the walls and instead use a dark stone countertop. Moreover, one of the biggest challenges in design is trying to create a home that flows easily from room to room, and saturated colors make this even more difficult. "We discourage any colors that are too bright or saturated, as they can overwhelm the space and distract from forming a cohesive aesthetic throughout the home. If you love bold colors in the kitchen, instead of walls and elements, find accessories in those shades, like a toaster or plates," she noted.
