"The Hormuz Strait will only reopen when part of the transit revenue is used to compensate for the damage caused by the imposed war," said Mehdi Tabatabai, the deputy for communications and information in the Iranian presidential office.
He sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump, saying he resorted to insults and nonsense out of desperation and anger.
He accused him of starting a large-scale war in the region and boasting about it.
The region has been on alert since the U.S. and Israel launched a joint offensive against Iran on February 28.
Tehran retaliated with drone and missile attacks on Israel, as well as on Jordan, Iraq, and Persian Gulf countries hosting U.S. military units.
