It seems the dilemmas have been resolved, as information from the American branch of the Japanese car company Nissan has reached the media indicating that the famous GT-R model (if we forget the first two generations named Skyline GT-R) will also have its fifth edition, and the fifth generation of Godzilla (R36) is expected to hit the scene before the end of the decade.
With the cheerful remark that "Godzilla is currently just sleeping," because the GT-R R35 is no longer in production, Nissan is in the early stages of developing the next generation of one of the automotive industry's icons, whose production version is expected to retain the famous 3.8-liter biturbo V6 engine that in the most powerful R35 versions "coolly" delivers 600 horsepower.
Nissan says they will not abandon the mentioned engine, but in Yokohama, they do not hide that (due to increasingly strict emission standards and the decision for the GT-R R36 to be available globally) the refined engine will be assisted by some hybrid system, which will present a new challenge for engineers, as it is known that even the conventionally powered R35 is not among the lighter cars in its class.
However, its weight did not prevent it from being extremely fast both on the road and on the track, thanks to many efficient technical "magic tricks" and occasional treatments from the Nismo department, so there is no doubt that in Nissan's department dedicated solely to Godzilla, they will find a way for the new hybrid GT-R to bring with it everything that made it famous.
