The Agency stated that given the expected precipitation amounts, a rise in the water level of the Sava River is also anticipated during the coming week.
"Considering new rainfall, the inflow of significant water volumes from watercourses upstream and downstream of the Modrac reservoir, and the release of substantial water quantities from the Modrac reservoir, an additional increase in the water level at HS Karanovac will occur today and tomorrow, which may cause flooding of land and structures along the Spreฤa River," the Agency noted.
Additionally, from April 4 to 7, an extraordinary hydrological situation is forecast due to elevated water levels and potential floods in the middle and lower sections of the Spreฤa River.
The Agency suggested that competent institutions monitor the situation on the ground and act within their authorities, while recommending increased caution to services implementing measures and activities for the protection and rescue of people and material assets.
"Competent civil protection services should warn the population of the danger of approaching riverbanks due to possible increases in water depths and flow velocities in rivers, and provide them with timely notifications containing instructions and guidelines, so that the population can take timely self-protection measures to reduce damages from the harmful effects of floods," it was stated.
