Tabaković and Katić are originally from Stolac, and in this way, the citizens of this Herzegovinian town have paid tribute to them for qualifying for the World Cup, which will be held this upcoming summer in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Both Tabaković and Katić played a crucial role in the qualification. Tabaković scored the only goal from open play and saved Bosnia and Herzegovina from defeat against Italy in the regular part of the final playoff for the World Cup, while Katić was the defensive pillar of the Dragons throughout all 120 minutes. Additionally, Tabaković was precise from the penalty spot both in the semifinal against Wales and in the final against Italy.
The citizens of Stolac came up with the idea to publicly thank them for this success, so a billboard with their images and names appeared at the entrance to the town.
"This is Stolac! Proud of Haris and Nikola," reads the billboard designed by Mahir Medar.
The greatest success of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team is proof of how little it takes to bring people together, and it is particularly encouraging that the billboard was created in a town where there have been recent disturbances and unwanted scenes among citizens in the past few weeks.
