This is a witty, sharp, and somewhat (uncomfortably) recognizable story that turns everyday life entanglements into comedy. And not just any comedy—the kind that makes us laugh, then pause and reflect because we know it all feels "somehow familiar." On stage shine the brilliant actresses of the Tuzla Theater: Meliha Fakić, Elvira Aljukić, Jasmina Dedić Ibrić, and Zerina Mujkić.
At the heart of the story are a mother and daughter who, faced with a loan that clearly has better stamina than they do, reach their breaking point and resort to a solution definitely not recommended by the bank. When a banker with serious intentions knocks on their door, the situation spirals out of control: instead of a foreclosure, a hostage crisis ensues, but with negotiations the banking system has never seen before. What follows is a series of absurd, hilarious, and unexpected twists.
Director Midhat Kušljugić skillfully balances laughter and reality, reminding us that our daily struggles often teeter on the edge between tragedy and comedy—it’s just a matter of who writes the script. The text by Davor Špišić, full of satire and warmth, dissects society but with enough humor to make us come back for more.
"Women in Red" guarantee an evening of laughter, recognition, and that feeling when you leave the theater thinking: "It’s okay, I’m not the only one." Tickets for the performance can be purchased on the online platform karter.ba and at the box office of the National Theater Tuzla.
