He pointed out that several years ago there was no political will regarding this, and afterwards the American company AAFS showed interest. Political parties from the majority in the FBiH Parliament had a political agreement last November to show maximum attention to this project and include the name of the interested company for implementation. Analyses, doubts, communications for days, examining all legal frameworks—that’s what the following days looked like, stated Lakić. [IMAGE]619559[/IMAGE] "All political parties from the majority were involved in the complete communication," he said. Regarding the adopted amendments and supplements to this law, he explained that the main gas pipeline was formed, and other cities were added to cover more of them: Grude, Gornji Vakuf, Uskoplje, Donji Vakuf, and Čapljina. A route from Kladanj towards Tuzla was also added. "We believed we should seize the opportunity to begin the gasification of the industrial part of FBiH in the Tuzla Canton and to have the gas pipeline reach the Tuzla Thermal Power Plant," he stated. The company AAFS is included in part of the law, and it was particularly desired to state that the interests of the FBiH Government be secured. "We must approach this with maximum responsibility and protect the interests of FBiH. In the coming days, the FBiH Parliament, both houses, will convene; that will be next week. The key procedural action will be the conclusion of the contract between FBiH and the American investor," explained Lakić. [IMAGE]619564[/IMAGE] A larger number of lawyers will be involved in the process to help protect the interests of both sides. For this action, Lakić notes, they have set a timeframe of 30 days from the entry into force of this law. "A lot will happen in those 30 days, but in the end, we must come out with a contract that will be multi-decade," Lakić conveyed. He explained that this law provides a shorter procedure for the implementation of this project. "What guided us in this project is the EU decision that there cannot be Russian gas in BiH. This will be a kind of novelty in FBiH, and we are aware of that, but if it is something that can pass, it will very likely be a model for future infrastructure projects in FBiH," stated Lakić. Although, he says, they were cautious because it involves a foreign company, they had to adapt to the interests and needs of FBiH and create solutions that would lead to implementation. He also mentioned the international agreement between BiH and Croatia that will be signed, and the FBiH Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić, through two acts to the Council of Ministers of BiH, submitted activities for the realization of the project, as well as the urgency to continue activities regarding this agreement. He further explained that the construction of FBiH gas power plants will follow, which would stabilize the energy system. He responded to journalists' questions about the issue of state property for this project, for which a solution is expected. "If state property is not resolved, this project will not be implemented," said Lakić. He emphasized that they did not want to wait for a solution and that this law should force the resolution of other problems as well. "If the conditions are not ready, it will not happen," he added. In the law, he notes, the American company is recognized as a 100% investor. "Our agreement is that the construction part will be carried out by domestic companies, that the investment that comes will remain in FBiH and the companies that should work. A large financial investment will remain in FBiH," conveyed Lakić. He explained that two gas transporters will be BH-Gas and the American company, which will alternate. Energoinvest will remain the gas importer because it is a company of great interest, noted Lakić.
