In his address, the President of the Democratic Front (DF) and member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Željko Komšić, conveyed that the Democratic Front continues to fight for the equality of all people: "It is a tough battle, but such is life."
He stated that Slaven Kovačević is not a member of the DF but is their candidate for the Presidency due to his perspective on Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He also announced a struggle for a country where it does not matter who one's father or mother is, whether one was born in Bosnia and Herzegovina or not, or what one's religion or nationality is, but rather that everyone who loves this country and considers it their own must have an equal chance for success.
He said that the DF, by rejecting the suspension of the constitution and impositions, has shown that they want the people to decide who will be in power, and in no other way, and that they are fighting for the people's trust, not for victory as an end in itself, but for our country, which they envision as different and happier.
He also sent a message to political rivals, the SDA and SDP, stating that their coalition has already been seen and has brought nothing good. In conclusion, he conveyed that the DF needs to grow to the point of taking responsibility for this country, and that it does not necessarily have to be party members, but rather they should let "our children, educated and smart, have a chance, just like Sergej Barbarez."
The candidate for the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slaven Kovačević, said that he has stepped onto the first line of battle because he wants to represent the continuity of a civic state. He said that for him, this concept means a state of equal people, and in that state, we create a society of equal opportunities.
He also conveyed that everyone wants such a society, not a society of suitable individuals. Only in such a society can we have the best people in the most important positions in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
He illustrated his struggle with a metaphor: when someone falls ill, they seek a doctor, not primarily a Bosniak, Serb, or Croat, and that is the right path for the state as well.
A member of the DF Presidency, Miro Lazović, told the citizens of Zenica that they are accustomed to sports jargon and that they need a 2:1 for Bosnia and Herzegovina within the structures of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
"That is why it is important for Slaven Kovačević to succeed Željko Komšić so that it is at least 2:1 for the state, since it is already impossible to be 3:0. A civic Bosnia and Herzegovina does not mean suppressing other identities; it is the future of our country. Without it, we cannot be part of Europe, nor can we guarantee that the state will remain within these borders. Belgrade and Zagreb are still trying to hold us hostage; the Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs claims that the concept of 'two schools under one roof' is good—that is devastating," said Lazović.
The President of the DF Cantonal Committee for the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Goran Bulajić, said that the continuity and policy of the DF have remained intact since the party's first day of existence.
"In the next election cycle, we must enter prepared and determined to 'fight' like our national team in the World Cup qualifiers. We will not give in. Today, there are many young people here who, I hope, can learn from us, just as we learned from our President Komšić," said Bulajić.
