Reality star and entrepreneur has joined the producing team of "The Fear of 13," a play based on the true story of Nick Yarris, a man who spent over two decades on death row for a murder he claims he did not commit.
"My commitment to criminal justice reform has always been about more than just policyโit's about people. I've learned that sometimes the most effective way to change someone's mind is through a powerful story. 'The Fear of 13' is exactly that kind of story," Kardashian said.
In recent years, Kardashian has used her platform to draw attention to individuals who claim they were wrongfully convicted. She has visited the White House during both the Trump and Biden administrations, advocating for criminal justice reform and the use of presidential clemency powers.
Kardashian lobbied for Trump to commute the life sentence of Alice Marie Johnson, who served over 20 years in prison for nonviolent drug offenses. Johnson was released in June 2018 and granted a full pardon by Trump in August 2020, restoring her civil rights.
"The Fear of 13," written by Lindsey Ferrentino, stars Adrien Brody and Tessa Thompson and is directed by Tony Award winner David Cromer. The opening night is scheduled for Wednesday.
