The goal is ambitious: selling 4.13 million vehicles annually by 2030. Interestingly, a significant portion of this "pie" is expected to consist not only of pure electric cars but also proven hybrids. Kia has a separate plan for Europe. The target is to reach 746,000 cars sold per year, with around 66 percent expected to be electric vehicles. The main stars will be the EV4 sedan and an entry-level compact hatchback, likely named the EV1. This model is expected by 2027. However, internal combustion engines should not be written off too quickly. Even in the "green" European market, the South Korean brand is leaving room for maneuver. One of the key novelties will be the refreshed Seltos crossover, which will be offered with a proven 1.6-liter turbo engine and in a full hybrid (HEV) format. Globally, Kia is preparing a real onslaught of new models, announcing the arrival of nine internal combustion engine models and as many as 13 hybrids. These are not just ordinary hybrids (HEV) or plug-in hybrids (PHEV), as the company is actively developing EREV (Electric Range Extended Vehicle) versionsโelectric vehicles where the internal combustion engine works solely as a generator to charge the battery. Moreover, the South Korean company is also preparing a pickup truck. This is a serious offering for markets traditionally dominated by Americans and Japanese. For commercial operations, it will develop the PVB (Platform Beyond Vehicle) line, which refers to modular electric vans. The PV5 is already on the way, and it will be joined by the larger PV7 and PV9 in 2027 and 2029, respectively. The technological part of the strategy is based on close cooperation with NVIDIA. Kia plans to standardize sensors and software to make autonomous driving systems accessible and intelligent. An interesting aspect is the Data Flywheel concept, where cars will collect anonymous travel data to continuously learn from real-world road situations.
