Due to an accident, the eastbound lane of Interstate 70 in Clear Creek County, about 80 kilometers west of Denver, has been closed, announced the Colorado State Patrol. Officials examined 19 people, and eight were transported to the hospital, including one who, according to the patrol, sustained serious bodily injuries. In an interview with CBS Colorado, one of the accident participants, Emily Medina, stated that drivers collided immediately after exiting the tunnel. "I was coming out of the tunnel, and everything looked pitch black. Heavy snow was falling. I think I was actually one of the last people to crash in that pile-up. Then, at the very end, another truck crossed the road and there were more collisions, and people were injured," said Medina. Photos published online show multiple trailers involved in a chain-reaction collision, debris scattered across the road, completely destroyed front parts of vehicles, and at least one vehicle that had completely overturned. It is still unknown what caused the chain-reaction collision.
