He hinted at it over the weekend while attending UFC event 327, and later spoke to UFC Brasil, where he reflected on the failed idea of a fight with Alex Pereira. Jones claims the main problem was very simple and solely about money. "I felt I should have been paid in a way that I ultimately wasn't. We simply disagreed, and that happens in life. But, you know what, I'm a big fan of Alex Pereira. I love the way he carries himself, he's a really elegant fighter, a potential opponent, a man. I'm a big fan of his," said Jones. Meanwhile, the 38-year-old Jones has been sending rather mixed messages about his own future. At one point, he sounded like a man seriously leaning towards definitive retirement from MMA, and then like someone who still believes he can physically compete at the highest level without issues. Even now, he hasn't given a completely clear answer. "I'm not sure if I've retired or not. I'm taking it day by day and trying to feel my body, see how I feel, and so on. But I'll tell you this, being here at the UFC now has reignited a fire I haven't felt in a while. It really feels good to be here," he said.
