According to reports from Israel's Channel 12, an operation named "Silver Plow" has been launched, targeting over 20 border villages where systematic house demolitions have been carried out. This operation is said to resemble earlier tactics used during the offensive in Gaza, aiming to "clear" front lines and prevent the return of civilians until, as Israeli authorities claim, "security is established." The Israeli army has issued evacuation orders for areas south of the Zahrani River, deploying heavy machinery. This policy aligns with a long-term strategy to establish a buffer zone, with some areas under Israeli occupation for decades and others seized between October 2023 and November 2024. Despite a diplomatic meeting hosted in Washington by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Israeli attacks have not ceased. Lebanonโs National News Agency reported that at least 13 people were killed on Wednesday, including an entire family in Jbaa, with additional casualties recorded in Ansariya and Qadmus. Airstrikes also hit vehicles in Saadiyat and Jiyeh, about 20 kilometers south of Beirut, while artillery shelling targeted Bint Jbeil and areas along the Litani River. This offensive followed a war that began on March 2, in which at least 2,124 people were killed and nearly 7,000 injured. Hezbollah MP Hassan Fadlallah criticized the Lebanese governmentโs engagement in negotiations with Israel, stating that "the option of negotiating with the enemy is wrong." He accused Beirut authorities of "squandering Lebanonโs political and military strength" and leaving it "vulnerable to occupation." Similar views were expressed by Hezbollah leader Naim Qassem, who reiterated calls to abandon negotiations. Meanwhile, public dissatisfaction is growing, increasingly questioning the failure to implement the November 2024 ceasefire. According to media reports, numerous communities have been "targeted multiple times by Israeli attacks in recent weeks." Destruction in southern Lebanon has intensified further, with some villages, such as Al-Khiam, reportedly completely leveled within a month. House demolitions were also recorded in Hanine, while Baraachit and Nabatieh El Faouqa were again targeted. Changes on digital maps have also drawn public attention, as Apple Maps reportedly removed the names of certain villages in southern Lebanon, precisely in areas affected by Israeli operations. This military campaign has provoked sharp reactions from the international community. In a joint statement, 63 countries and the European Union condemned recent attacks and called for accountability, while countries such as Spain, Turkey, Brazil, Russia, China, and Canada also condemned the offensive or called for urgent de-escalation of the conflict.
