The southern suburbs of the capital were hit by eight airstrikes, state media reported. The attack occurred near Lebanon's largest public hospital. AFP reported that people were fleeing the facility en masse at the time of the attack. The media noted that heavy smoke was rising from the area as Israeli warplanes circled overhead. The Israeli military earlier announced that a wave of airstrikes had begun on what it claimed were Hezbollah infrastructure in Beirut. Previously, the IDF had warned of the evacuation of the entire affected area. In a separate Israeli airstrike on Kfarhata, a village in southern Lebanon, seven people were killed, including a four-year-old child, Lebanon's health ministry reported. The attack on Kfarhata followed a nighttime evacuation order issued by the Israeli military, instructing residents to leave the village. As Lebanese Christians, who make up about one-third of the population, celebrated Easter, the country experienced one of its most violent days since clashes with Israel erupted at the beginning of last month. According to Lebanon's health ministry, since March 2, Israel has killed 1,461 people, while 4,430 have been injured.
