This is about a clip from the show "Damar," produced by long-time journalist and editor Damir ล ehanoviฤ‡, who recalled the now-iconic moments with Barbarez. Today's Bosnia and Herzegovina selector could not have imagined the joy he would bring to his homeland 20 years later. "This show was recorded exactly twenty (20) years ago when some of last night's heroes weren't even born. Today, two bald guys with white beards full of life and experience, once in our mid-thirties, we tried to follow trends and be cool. Most importantly are the results each has achieved in their own domain. Thank you, Sergej Barbarez, for making the good people of Bosnia and Herzegovina proud and happy. Thank you to the guys you are leading to new great victories," wrote ล ehanoviฤ‡. In the video clip, Barbarez says he did not think about a coaching career, although many urged him to start training for a coaching license. Barbarez said at the time that he did not want to just have a license if he could not see himself in it. "I will first try to concentrate on what I am doing and try to bring the active part to an end. I have to see myself in all of this. I have hardly thought about it at all. Many people try to persuade me to get that license, but I don't like doing something just to say I have it, maybe I will need it. There has to be some goal and what it will do for me going forward," Barbarez said exactly 20 years ago in his Mostar. After finishing his playing career, Barbarez waited years for the chance to take over the Dragons. He got it in April 2024, and exactly two years later, he secured World Cup qualification from the bench of his homeland, whose captain he was as a player.
