According to statements from U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian officials, Pakistan played a key mediating role in establishing the ceasefire. This country will host direct talks between America and Iran, and according to an announcement by Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, they will begin on April 10 in Islamabad. These will be the first direct talks between U.S. and Iranian delegations since the end of February, or since the start of U.S.-Israeli attacks on the country. Previous talks were held in Geneva. Iranian officials confirmed Sharif's announcements and added that the negotiations begin with "absolute distrust" towards the U.S. Additionally, it is not entirely clear on what basis the talks will start. While the Iranian Supreme Council announced that America agreed to a 10-point plan previously submitted, Trump labeled this announcement as "false."
