As they point out, there is increasing political pressure on the U.S. president to halt the war. According to reports from the Fars agency, five world leaders and eight heads of various intelligence services have contacted Tehran on behalf of Washington, hoping to reach a ceasefire agreement. In addition to Trump, the agency's report also refers to U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, whom they claim is "fearing for his job." As highlighted, Hegseth has initiated a personnel purge at the very top of the U.S. military in hopes of retaining his position as secretary longer, but he may soon be replaced, partly due to the war in Iran. The Fars agency report also states that the "Jewish lobby" is pressuring Trump, hoping he will not withdraw the U.S. from the war against Iran. However, they note that political pressure due to rising fuel prices, as well as the fact that the government in Tehran has remained in power despite U.S.-Israeli attacks, is becoming an increasingly significant problem for Trump on the domestic front, especially with the upcoming elections scheduled for November.
